The all-present wiper blades is a product of the industrial revolution and the design of the horseless carriage or car by a man named Henry Ford. The main instigator of the wiper blades is often accredited to a woman called Mary Anderson back at the start of the nineteenth century but I think this is arrant as the wiper blades would never have even been needed if not for the making of the car by Mr Ford. Later he combined forces with the afore cited Mrs Anderson who invented the first wind screen wiper proto type back about the same time after a visit to New York city motivated her to resolve the long standing puzzle of tram drivers sticking their arms out of windows in order to clean the wind screen of rain water. This atavistic wipers design had brushes instead of the standard wipers you see currently and a handle inside the driver’s cabin to power the windscreen wipers through its maximum range of motion.
A little bit later the hungry Mr Ford went into full time production of his model-t Ford with replacement wiper blades attached as default to all cars.
